As a general guideline, I suggest to use in-ear translation. Although the required equipment has a separate cost, you would be better off than with whispered translation. First of all, I would not be standing next to you during the ceremony and therefore would not appear in photos. You have no idea of how many couples have second thoughts about whispered translation. Secondly, your invitees would listen to the same translation as you, thus making the ceremony more involving. This is done with a simple transmitter / receivers equipment. It is similar to those who tour guides use, if you know what I mean.

Translations of documents for official use are sworn translations. They do not expire and can be used for administrative matters. The Italian public offices only accept documents in Italian, or foreign documents accompanied by what is commonly known as an “official” translation, which is a sworn translation.
